The Fantasy Life of Bone, or Is It Real?

BONE has many adventures. We recently caught up with him in Tombstone, Arizona having one. The pictures tell the story. Bone rides through the desert on a horse with no name, or body, for that matter. He arrives in Tombstone and stops off at Big Nose Kate’s for a beer. (Big Nose is Doc Holliday’s girlfriend.) One of Big Nose’s ‘working girls’ entices him away from his normally chaste life. Is that the Duke looking on? Having taken care of basic needs (he’d been out in the desert a long time), he becomes involved in a high stakes poker game and loses all of his money. No problem, Bone robs a safe. Unfortunately, Doc Holliday and the Earp boys capture him on Toughnut Street and cart him off to the OK Corral where Holliday threatens to shoot him. His fate is not to die in a gun battle, however. Marshall Earp delivers him to the Courthouse where he is tried by a jury of cow bones and faces his ultimate demise, for the second time. (The first time it was an alleged grizzly bear.) Bone is then fit with a coffin and joins his buddies on Boothill, desperados one and all. Is it all over for BONE? Is this the last chapter? No. When they are just about to plant Bone, his sidekick, Eeyore the Jackass, charges into the Graveyard in a daring rescue attempt. The two are last seen riding off into the sunset.
